Raising Backyard Poultry for Meat: Broiler Chickens

Thank you for your interest in Broiler Chicken training. My name is Stephen Jennewein and I am the Small Farms & Alternative Enterprises Extension Agent in Duval County. In this class I will cover the basics of permitting, caring for, raising, slaughtering, cleaning broiler chickens.

Registration here on eventbrite gives you access to the Extension class and a discount rate to purchase and process a broiler on site at Charley's Chicks- Southern Acres Farm. This will give you the ability to go home with a freshly prepared chicken and hands-on experience processing poultry. This includes:

-using a K*ll cone

-scalding

- plucking

- cleaning and dressing

Additional registration will be required to purchase and process a broiler.
