About this Event
In 2023, The Dryes launched their first North Carolina songwriter’s round show, blending the Nashville industry with local talent, giving them a place to meet other artists to connect and be inspired and for those attending to simply enjoy stories and songs written through all walks of life. This show on June 20th, 2026 at Pinedale Christian Church will be the second of The Dryes faith based writer’s round. The Dryes will host and perform, featuring one of their cowriters and friend, Michael Farren. Also featuring an amazing husband-wife duo from right here in Winston-Salem, Gray and Crystal Steadman. It will be a night of music you won’t want to miss!
The Dryes:
Katelyn and Derek Drye are from Winston Salem, NC (Katelyn grew up at Pinedale Christian Church) and moved to Nashville, TN in 2014. Since launching their career in 2018, The Dryes (husband and wife) have caught the attention of USA Today, Rolling Stone, People, American Songwriter, Billboard, among others, and have gained thousands of fans and followers along the way. In addition to their own touring schedule, the pair is currently on tour with Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony, a show co-produced by Dolly Parton herself.
After premiering on Season 22 of NBC’s The Voice (Team Blake), they went on tour with Jo Dee Messina as direct support on her national “Heads Carolina, Tails California Tour” and Derek secured a partnership with PRS Guitars. They have had songs land on ABC and Netflix shows and their music catalog shows the full spectrum of who they are. A little country and a lot of Jesus.
Michael Farren:
Grammy-nominated and multiple Dove Award-winning songwriter and producer Michael Farren migrated to Nashville from Texas 16 years ago after signing and subsequently releasing three albums on Word Records with his band Pocket Full of Rocks. In 2012, after many years of touring, Michael shifted his focus to songwriting and production. Raised with a deep love for all kinds of music, Michael has penned hundreds of songs that span multiple genres—and more recently, he’s leaned heavily into country.
From Lauren Daigle’s Grammy-nominated and now platinum single “Trust In You,” Reba McEntire’s Grammy-winning album title track “Sing It Now,” to Christine D’Clario’s Dove Award-winning Spanish album of the year “Eterno Live,” Michael has enjoyed diverse success. His recent country cuts include songs recorded by Zach Williams (including co-writes like “Walls Fall Down” with Lee Brice), Lee Brice (featured on For KING + COUNTRY’s “Checking In”), Abby Anderson, and Max McNown (tracks like “97” and “From Me To You”).
His first commercial cut was the global worship anthem “Let It Rain,” which appeared on Michael W. Smith’s RIAA-certified double platinum album “Worship.” Over the last two decades, numerous artists have sung Michael’s songs, including Zach Williams, Reba McEntire, Cory Asbury, Natalie Grant, Mandisa, Blind Boys of Alabama, Alisa Turner, Finding Favour, Unspoken, Phillips Craig and Dean, Big Daddy Weave, Aaron Shust, Karen Peck, Brian Free and Assurance, Darlene Zschech, CityAlight, Abby Anderson, Lee Brice, and Max McNown.
When he’s not fishing or running around in the woods in his Jeep, you can find Michael at his restaurant, The Bourbon Gospel, in Columbia TN with his wife Alisa and two daughters Madison and Mykah.
