Irena Eide, known as Rainy Eyes, is a Norwegian-born musician whose life has been a journey of resilience and self-discovery. Raised between Bergen and a family sheep farm on Norway’s rugged islands, she was steeped in both urban and rural influences. Introduced to music by a guitar-playing uncle and her Serbian musician father, Rainy began singing young and recorded her first demo at 12. Her teen years were turbulent, leading her to leave Norway at 18 for Denmark, where she soon eloped to San Francisco with a jazz saxophonist. In the Bay Area, she immersed herself in folk and bluegrass music, teaching children, and performing in underground jazz clubs. Her later years involved running a music space in San Francisco, hosting camps, and navigating a challenging marriage that fueled her songwriting. Rainy's journey took her to south Louisiana, where she connected with her musical roots and collaborated with Lafayette musicians, leading to the creation of her album "Lonesome Highway."

Rainy Eyes' music is a rich tapestry of folk, bluegrass, and roots influences, reflecting a blend of personal experiences and traditional sounds. Her style is characterized by heartfelt storytelling and a therapeutic exploration of themes like pain and renewal. "Lonesome Highway" merges acoustic instruments such as fiddle and banjo with electric guitar and drums, creating a dynamic and emotionally resonant sound. Drawing inspiration from both her Scandinavian roots and the vibrant musical traditions of the American South, her music balances introspective lyrics with a spirit of resilience and wanderlust, offering a deeply personal yet universally relatable listening experience.
