It’s Pride Month and The Napoleon Room has created a new series called RAINBOW AND STARS celebrating our gay community and our allies. PRIDE PARTIES are interspersed throughout June featuring and thanking many of our biggest fans for their support throughout the year. Tonight’s PRIDE PARTY is hosted by JIM RICE & VALERIE SNEADE-ROY who will be welcoming to the stage JEANNE COLLINS, PETER DIMURO, and MARY CATHERINE WARD for a trio of showcases. We will wind up the party with an open mic as we do every night at the Napoleon Room.JIM RICE is an accomplished and diverse conductor, music director, arranger, pianist and singer. Abroad, Jim has been Conductor of the European tour of Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera and nationally, Always Patsy Cline.. He has been the Assistant Conductor for the international tour of Man of La Mancha and Camelot as well as the pianist for the Broadway production of Grease in Europe. Jim has performed in hundreds of theaters and concert halls throughout Europe and the United States and has performed in every state to date, except Hawaii.
VALERIE SNEADE-ROY is a native of Grafton, Massachusett. Critics have raved about her “powerhouse vocals” and “beaming stage personality”. As a performer, Valerie is a formidable singer with a giant voice when she chooses to call upon it. She has an impressive vocal range and sings a wide range of material ranging from pop, rock, R&B, country, big band, show tunes and so much more. Her vocal is eclipsed ONLY by her amazing connection with an audience. It’s one of those things you have to experience to understand.
JEANNE COLLINS CROWLEY has been singing and performing since childhood. Her first paid performance was at the age of six at her grandmother’s birthday party. Instead of singing “On the Good Ship Lollipop,” she belted out “You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby” from the Virginia Slims ad, much to the shock and surprise of her grandparents and assembled guests. She collected her dollar bill and was hooked on the applause and laughter. In the years since, she has produced and acted in community theater, fronted several pop country bands, and continues to be a featured vocalist for blues bands from Springfield to the Cape. While she still loves a great guitar solo and a thumping bass, she’s happy to transition to the Cabaret style, and is looking forward to seeing what the next chapter holds.
PETER DIMURO was the dancer they told to mouth the words and not sing out loud during many a musical. So he choreographed and directed and choreographed operas, musicals and for concert dance around the world waiting for his career as a night club chanteuse to take flight. His cabaret “Gestures From Left of Center” appeared in the Napoleon Room in 2024. Peter continues to combine music, dance, visuals in creative work for screens, stages and on-site.
MARY CATHERINE WARD is a graduate of the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference and the St. Louis cabaret conference. She has performed with Boston Bel Canto Opera, Longwood Opera Company and Opera Aperta among other venues. Mary Catherine was also sighted briefly on the “CBS , The Early Show ” disguised as Nancy Kerrigan singing a song from the rock opera “Tonya & Nancy” by Michael Teoli and local songwriter Elizabeth Searle. Her one woman show “The Me Nobody Knows” directed by Faith Prince and written by Rod Ferguson debuted at Club Cafe in Boston.
