About this Event

Join us for an LGBTQ+ Suicide Prevention & Sensitivity Training, facilitated by The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project’s CARE (Connect, Accept, Respond, Empower) Training is an interactive and intensive training that provides adults with an overview of suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) youth, and the different environmental stressors that contribute to their heightened risk for suicide. Ideal for healthcare providers, K-12 educators, higher education faculty and staff, adults working in the foster care system, with adjudicated youth, with homeless and runaway youth, to spiritual and faith leaders, and many more.

After participating in this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the services offered by The Trevor Project and how youth can access them
  • Discuss the challenges facing LGBTQ+ people in their home, school, work and other environments
  • Explain the risk factors and warning signs of suicide
  • Describe how to respond to a person who is at risk for suicide and connect them to appropriate resources
  • Explain how to create supportive environments for all people that promote resiliency and decrease the risk for suicide
