Rainbow Fleet Early Education Center to host free Community Early Literacy Event, Author Visit

Just in time for back-to-school season Oklahoma author Tammi Sauer will host a storytime session at Rainbow Fleet’s Community Early Literacy Event. The read-aloud will take place at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 at 1105 NW 45th St. in Oklahoma City. The event is free and open to the public.

“We look forward to welcoming Tammi Sauer as she shares her books for young readers” said Rainbow Fleet CEO Carri Hicks. “Reading with children is the single most important activity to prepare them for school readiness.” 

Best known for titles like “Mary had a Little Glam” “Chicken Dance” and “Your Alien” Sauer has authored more than 30 books. She will lead the session with “Wordy Birdy” an illustrated story about a bird who talks more than she listens. The book was named a Kids’ Indie Next List book the 2021 Book Choice for Read Across Oklahoma and a Bank Street College Best Book of the Year.

The event is geared toward children ages 2 to 4. Children are encouraged to participate in rhythmic activities and play-based movement during the storytime session.
