🌈For April's Rainbow Cinema Club pick, we’re watching the powerful and deeply moving drama The Laramie Project. Join us for an evening of reflection, education, and meaningful conversation. We will also be having Carol and Jim Dries of PFLAG DeLand/Volusia talk about their organization with us who hold support meetings for allies and the LGBTQ+ community.Following the film, we’ll host a guided discussion, themed trivia, gift bags, and a raffle for a special giveaway. 🎟️
The goal of Rainbow Cinema Club is to help educate and uplift our community through the power of Queer storytelling — honoring stories that shape our history, challenge us, and inspire change.
Snacks and water will be provided.
April’s Pick: The Laramie Project

Based on the stage play by the Tectonic Theater Project and directed by Moisés Kaufman, the film chronicles the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie. Through interviews with community members, the story explores grief, accountability, faith, and the impact of hate — while highlighting the resilience of a town forever changed.
Rated TV-MA for mature themes, strong language, and disturbing content. Under 17: Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 or older.
