                  Phillip Herd's 'Rain Falling on the Abattoir' will be performed at the Cracked Actors Theatre (CAT) for Summer Reading 2022 (Should COVID restrictions be in force this performance will take place online).Snout has seen the years roll by without taking action over her life. Amidst a backdrop of the End of the World, Snout is knocked back with the sudden departure of her childhood friend and comfort in this world, Emmylou.
She finds the courage to venture forth alone.. She takes back her name, takes control of her life, and leaves behind her damp apartment, and the sound of rain. Finding solace and comfort in being alone; finally going somewhere…
Phillip is a Melbourne based Actor and Writer from the Barossa Valley, SA. Although his upbringing garnished him with a love of wine, his love of the Arts is still more prominent.
Having graduated in 2017 from Federation University with a Bachelor of Arts (Acting), Phillip has performed both in Australia and abroad.
Whilst in London he completed a Shakespeare Intensive (RADA), performed in Twelfth Night (New Wimbledon Theatre) and co-wrote Topsy and Turvy’s Twisty Turny Journey for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Other writing credits include: Mystery of the Golden Scoop (Adelaide Fringe).
Other Acting credits include: Death of a Salesman (ETC), Pride and Prejudice (24 Carrot Productions) and Mother Courage and Her Children (Fed Uni).
Rain Falling on the Abattoir is Phillip’s first individual fully formed play, one which he created amidst the lockdowns in 2021. He is thrilled to be bringing his words off the page with the help of this wonderful cast, and is grateful to Cracked Actors Theatre for this opportunity.
