About the Artists
RAFGAK: Russisches Amerikanische Freundschaft Gegen Atom-Krieg A joyous noise duo from Berlin, RAFGAK, is a celebration of life and a small gesture against the absurdity of global conflict and self-destruction.
Bryan Eubanks (b. 1977, US) develops his music through solo work and collaboration. Since 1999 he has participated in many short and long term projects, and regularly presents his work internationally. Continually active in a variety of contexts: improvisation; composing electronic and acoustic works for small ensembles, solo instruments, computers, and electronics; organizing and curating concerts for other artists; building electronic instruments. He currently lives in Berlin.
Sidor Aksyonov is a musician, member of theater projects and organizer of events and festivals based in Berlin. He is a notable figure on the Russian and European new improvised and experimental music scenes. He employs a wide range of musical instruments in many projects and performances. Founder of such polystylistic musical formations as Studio of Unconscious Music (SUM) and Siberian Improvisation Company (SIC!). Works and plays concerts in various projects with a lot of musicians from around the world. Since 2018 he has been the main artistic director of Petersburg Art Space (Berlin).
Lorenzo Abattoir is a sound artist based in Torino (IT). A key element of his work is the relationship between performative acts and unusual methods of audio processing, mainly focusing on the use of microphones, blurring the lines between musical instruments and recording devices. He explores the boundaries of sound and noise using breathing techniques and bodily sounds as instruments to structure his performances.
Guillermo Pizarro uses field recordings, tapes, noise, synths and ambient textures to achieve his cinematic storytelling through sound. He also runs Flag Day Recordings, a US label focused on promoting experimental music, harsh noise, ambient and soundtracks. Starting in 2024, Flag Day has added a production branch via Vitória Régia Studios focused on mastering, mixing and film scoring.
This performance is presented by Non-Event and the Goethe-Institut Boston.
