Casa Flamenca in partnership with Naranjita Studio brings the great bailaor from Sevilla Rafael Campallo, singer Diego Amador Jr. (Sevilla), guitarist Juani de la Isla (Cadiz) and Carmen Montes (Mexico) for a workshop and performance on August 20-21!! An incredible to study and see these maestros IN PERSON at Naranjita Studio.
Rafael will teach one 90 minute class in Bulerias and Tangos material, and the next session will include the musicians who will guide the dancers with Rafael in the previously taught letras! Rafael Campallo (Seville, 1974) is a prominent Spanish flamenco dancer, renowned for his refined technique and energetic style. He began at age 11 with José Galván and Manolo Marín, performing professionally at 16. Having achieved acclaim after winning the "Premio Desplante" (1999) and collaborating with figures such as Vicente Amigo and María Pagés, he has led his own company and shone at the Seville Biennial.Highlights of his Career:Training and Beginnings: He trained with renowned teachers, demonstrating precocity by performing as a guest soloist in Spain and Japan from the age of 16.Rise to Prominence (1990s): He participated in the show Azabache (1992) and joined the Andalusian Dance Company in 1996.Awards and Recognition: In 1999, he won the prestigious Desplante Award at the La Unión Flamenco Festival.
Key Projects: He collaborated with Vicente Amigo and premiered notable works such as Puente de Triana (2010), Don Juan Flamenco (2004), and Sangre (2014).
Style: Known for his mastery of rhythm and visceral dancing, he is often compared to the school of traditional flamenco dancers.In addition to his international performances, Campallo has taught, sharing his knowledge at the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville.
