Radost Theatre s a professional puppetry theatre with a repertoire of productions for children, youth and adult audiences. The theatre is located in Brno (the second largest city in the Czech Republic) and was founded in 1949 by Vladimír Matoušek, a teacher and a prominent amateur puppet director, who was one of the leading figures of the interwar generation of Czech puppetry. This summer, they are conducting a limited six-city US tour and Kansas City is fortunate to be one of their stops.
The performance will be held Tuesday, August 6 at the Kansas City Plaza Library. The Radost Theatre troupe will perform The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats or “When the Kid Goes to Open the Door.” This performance is especially intended for families with children.
The tour features 13 members of the Radost Theatre, led by set designer and theatre director, Pavel Hubička. This tour was kindly financed by the statutory city of Brno, which subsidizes the operation of the Radost Theatre, contributory organization, co-financed by the South Moravian Region and Mrs. Monika Vintrlíková, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Atlanta. Other partners of the US tour are: Moravian Museum, The National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library and ALBAform.
