Het was een warme zomeravond in augustus 2014 in Varna (Bulgarije) - de regel viel met bakken uit de hemel - toen het Nederlandse avant-garde trio Tin Men and the Telephone op het punt stond het allereerste concert van het nieuw opgerichte Radar-festival te spelen. Ondanks het slechte weer kwamen er heel veel mensen op af en de zaal was propvol. De reacties op het concert waren verbluffend!De Amsterdam gevestigde jazzpianist en componist Dimitar Bodurov heeft in zijn geboortestad Varna (Bulgarije) het RADAR-festival opgericht. Het doel van het festival is om open-minded muziekprojecten te presenteren die jazz, elektronica en video combineren met andere kunsten en technologie. Als onderdeel van z'n 10-jarig jubileum komt het RADAR-festival tussen 16 en 20 december neerstrijken in Amsterdam met een reeks spannende samenwerkingen tussen top Bulgaarse artiesten en lokale uitblinkers.
Dimitar cureert drie concertavonden in Splendor, Sexyland en Bimhuis. Onze Splendor-gastheer is de vernieuwende pianist Tony Roe, die dezelfde dag kennis zal maken met de beatbox-wereldkampioen Skiler (BG) en aanstormend saxofonist-talent Hristo Goleminov (PT/BG).
Bodurov speelt een set samen met de vermaarde trompettist Rossen Zahariev - Roko (BG) en drummersensatie Sun-Mi Hong (KOR).

Prominent Bulgarian musicians meet local standouts - jazz, beatbox and electronics
It was a warm summer evening in August 2014 in Varna (Bulgaria), it was pouring with rain, when the Dutch avant-garde trio Tin Men and the Telephone were about to play the first concert of the newly found Radar festival. Unexpectedly, quite a few people showed up and filled the venue. The reactions to the concert were astounding!
Amsterdam-based jazz pianist and composer Dimitar Bodurov, co-founded the RADAR festival in his home town Varna (Bulgaria) aiming to present open-minded music projects that blend jazz, electronica, and video, with other arts and technology. As part of its 10th anniversary RADAR festival will descend on Amsterdam between 16-20 December with a series of exciting collaborations between prominent Bulgarian artists and local standouts. Dimitar has curated three concert evenings in Splendor, Sexyland, and Bimhuis.
Our Splendor host is the innovative pianist and geek Tony Roe, who will meet the same day the beatbox world-champion Skiller (BG) and upcoming saxophone player Hristo Goleminov (PT/BG). Bodurov will play a set together with renowned trumpet player Rossen Zahariev - Roko (BG) and the drummer sensation Sun-Mi Hong (KOR).
