Michael Francis conducts Rachmaninoff’s most intriguing – and underrated – symphony. Written in America, his Symphony No. 3 radiates lush romantic melodies, drenched in his trademark orchestral colors. The program starts off with Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, an unquestioned masterpiece revered by concert violinists for more than a century. Performed by Spanish violinist Francisco Fullana in his TFO debut.
We’re full of surprises. Every Masterworks concert has a surprise inside – a short mystery piece that connects to the program in an unexpected way. Each one is Michael Francis’ little secret.
