Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony, filled with dark-chocolate harmonies, has been seducing newcomers to classical music for a century. Program update: Double bassist Xavier Foley is unable to appear on the program. Pianist Adam Tendler will replace him for these concerts. Gregory D. McDaniel, the New Jersey Symphony’s Colton Conducting Fellow, will conduct Debussy’s Clair de Lune and the New Jersey premiere of Nico Muhly’s Sounding. Music Director Xian Zhang will conduct Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.
