QUIET RITUALS Closing Event: performances by indexthumb, Kuba Pawelczak, Zara Sands ft. Sophia Marie Davison and Josh Curtis.
About this Event

The closing event of the duo show by Katya Tsareva and Alexander Tarasenko

Curated by Sophie Nowakowska

6:00 pm: ‘Coherence Protocol’ by indexthumb

Coherence Protocol presents a set of gestural rituals designed to reorient the body to physical perception following its digital transformation.

7:00 pm: ‘You Are Someone’s Son’ by Kuba Pawelczak

The Butoh performance unfolds as a journey into the terrain of authority and relationships with symbolic teachers who remain embedded within our artistic and spiritual paths.

8:00 pm: ‘Lucida’ by Zara Sands ft. Sophia Marie Davison & Josh Curtis

Inspired by the illusion of objectivity and gendered distortion of sight – and of the body as a clear barometer for pain – Lucida invites audiences into a space where the boundaries between witnessing and perceiving begin to dissolve.

indexthumb is a moving image and dance artist exploring the body’s materiality when translated between physical and media forms. They focus on moving image’s capacity to alter, enhance, and reorient somatic awareness, and the parallels between these processes and queer/trans+ perception.

Kuba Pawelczak is a Polish Butoh dancer, theatre maker, and movement practitioner based in London. His artistic practice is shaped through engagement with theories of psychophysical theatre.

Zara Sands is an interdisciplinary artist working across performance, choreography, installation and moving image. Her practice focuses on utilising the body as malleable and illusive, with ideas stemming from dreamscapes, dystopias, body horror, the instability of perception, and the body as a site of distortion and metamorphosis.

Sophia Marie Davison is a makeup and prosthetic artist working across film, fashion, and live performance. With a strong interest in storytelling, Sophia uses skin as a transformative canvas to create character-driven work.

Josh Curtis is a London-based composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist whose cross-genre music brings together elements of classical, electronic and noise music.
