About this Event
We’re gathering for our next Quiet Reading Club at in Jersey City on Wednesday, August 12th from 6:30–8:45 PM, and we’ll be meeting together in The Monk Room, a cozy private space perfect for reading and gathering.
Porta is a vibrant, welcoming spot in the heart of Jersey City, known for its delicious wood-fired pizza, warm atmosphere, and community-centered energy. The Monk Room offers us the perfect setting to slow down, share space with fellow readers, and enjoy a full hour of uninterrupted reading—plus pizza.
Quiet Reading Club is simple: bring whatever you’re currently reading (a novel, memoir, poetry collection, or audiobook with headphones—anything goes!), order a bite or drink, and enjoy a cozy evening of reading together in community. There’s no assigned reading and no pressure—just time to read.
A quick note on timing
For this meetup, we’re slightly adjusting our schedule to allow more time to settle in and order food. We’ll still arrive at 6:30 PM like usual, but our Quiet Reading Hour will begin a bit later and we’ll enjoy a later departure to make room for a group photo and social time.

Evening Schedule:
🕡 6:30 – 7:20 PM – Arrive, get settled, order pizza/drinks/dessert, and find your reading spot
📖 7:25 – 8:25 PM – Quiet Reading Hour
