In 2019, Quickchester released their first album, “Cocoon.” In 2020, as with most musicians, Covid brought about changes for the band. There were no more performances for almost two years.
In 2022, vocalist and flute player Kyley Byrd joined to make it a trio. Shortly thereafter she was followed by Stu Way on drums and J. D. Smith on bass. This opened up a myriad of new musical possibilities, including a slate of new, original material from Kyley.
Today, the Quickchester Band is performing a wide variety of musical styles featuring more than 30 original tunes, as well as music from classic artists including The Beatles, The Byrds, The Band, Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Little Feat, Pink Floyd, The Derek Trucks Band, Neil Young, Gillian Welch, and many more.
Paul Quick - Lead guitar and vocals. Paul is a former founding member of the Moody Blues tribute band “The Lost Chord Band” as well as “The Back Pages.”
Mark Chester - Rhythm guitar and vocals. Mark’s musical endeavors began in Atlanta, GA, playing congas and percussion for “The Flying Oatsmen” and “Col. Bruce Hampton and the Madrid Express.” He is also a founding member of “Brother Fat.”
Kyley Byrd - Flute and Vocals. Kyley was founder of “Byrdie and the Mutts” as well as a former member of “Asheville Circus” and “Laurel Canyon East.”
J.D. Smith - Bass guitar and vocals. J.D. also plays with “Phuncle Sam” and “Bald Mountain Boys.”
Stu Way - Drum kit. Stu also plays drums with “Laurel Canyon East,” a tribute to the Laurel Canyon
scene from the 1960s and 70s.
