About this Event
As part of LGBT+ History Month, Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre is delighted to host an evening with Dr Ger Moane.
At this event, Ger will discuss bringing queer characters and perspectives into her debut novel, Keeper of Stones, set in prehistory, and will read from the novel. Keeper of Stones draws on myth and legend to imagine the world of ancient Ireland as egalitarian and in harmony with nature, where gender and sexuality are fluid. The novel offers hope and a sense of a different way of being from our world today.
The story follows a group of young people on a coming-of-age journey that involves laying their birthstone on the mound at Newgrange, weaving together myth, identity, belonging, and transformation.
Dr Ger Moane is a psychologist, writer, and shamanic practitioner. She was a psychology professor for many years and is now a full-time writer, inspired by her fascination with Newgrange and Irish mythology. Her debut novel, Keeper of Stones, was an Irish Times bestseller. More information: germoane.com
