Queer Quilting 2023

As a tribute to the aids quilt of the 1990s, we are hosting a collaborative art project/fundraiser for local trans and LGBT groups. All proceeds will be split evenly between TransLife care, an organization dedicated to providing trans health care in the Chicago area and Brave Space Alliance, a south side based black-led LGBT food bank

We will be making 2 flags the trans and intersectional flag that will be roughly 12*9 in size, in addition to using standard quilting/patchwork techniques participants can also contribute drawings, embroidery, beadwork, patches to the quilt. Any addditional materials must be approved by the main organizer @leliamaywoods to ensure the stability of quilt and the safety of other participants. After the event both pieces will autioned off in an online sale that will last through out july.

Please note due to the collaborative nature of this project we cannot garentee that your contribution will not be modified in some way by another participant and encourage photo documentation of your contribution. Also while crafters from all levels are encourage to participate organizers will have limited availability to provide instruction/guide nice on quilting techniques and this will not be a workshop for quilting. Basic knowledge of handsewing techniques is highly suggested if you are interested in sewing something onto the quilt. However members of the quilt connection group will be participating and can potentially provide resources if you are interested in exploring this craft further.

There will also be gift baskets full of baked goods/ other fun things that will be available to win and those who are not able to participate in person can donate through the livestream that will be happening alongside the live event.

Snacks/drinks will be provided as refreshments.
