About this Event
EVENT DETAILS
Join us at U Bar, a staple of Philadelphia’s Gayborhood, to learn more about the American LGBTQ+ Museum during the American Alliance of Museums Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Historic walking tours of the Gayborhood will be offered throughout the night by Bob Skiba, head archivist at the William Way Community Center.
U BAR. A BRIEF HISTORY.
U Bar, formerly known as the dive bar Uncles, has been serving Philly’s LGBTQ+ community since 2012. Prior to that, founder Mort Wernik had opened the beloved gay bar Uncles in 1984. Running Uncle’s until his passing, Wernik was an active community leader and former president of the now-ceased Philadelphia LGBT Business Alliance.
