Ahhhhh, pop stars and Hollywood: a match made in heaven... Because everyone knows that if you can sing, you can obviously do what Dame Maggie Smith does, RIGHT??Thankfully for us, the queers who love them, our favorite pop stars have been bungling movie roles since before we were born, giving rise to some of the most notorious examples of queer-coded camp schlock ever captured on film!
But sometimes, there are those few chosen pop stars who turn out to be incredible in the acting roles they're given, and there's an extra layer of magic they get to add to their fame.
At Queer Film Theory, we will celebrate both the best and the absolute worst of these pop start performances and break down how and why they were significant to our professors' appreciation of queer identity in Hollywood.
