Queer Con Leche: Hot Queer Summer
About this Event
My fellow queers, the summer is HERE, our thought is that summer 26 will be a HOT QUEER SUMMER! Join us on Sunday July 19th from 12pm to 4pm at Open Test Kitchen.
Queer Con Leche is queer afro-latin dance day party. Afro-Latin dances were formed in oppression; we honor its history and center some of its beautiful music/dance; bachata, salsa, merengue, and cumbia. We come together to celebrate queer Latine culture, (and its vast diversity), to dance in community, uplift QTBIPOC folks & pour into collective joy alongside beautiful intergenerational energy on the dance floor.
The core of our values are access & inclusion. We move in this direction of disabled access through covid safety measures, wheelchair access, and modification friendly dance classes. We implement financial access through sliding scale pricing, including a tier that is exclusive to QT black & indigenous folks, and no one turned away for lack of funds policy at the door. Our space centers queer folks and intentionally de-genders dance. We are a space that seeks to platform and uplift queer creatives by rotating vendors, teachers, performers & DJs (who are always welcome back).

12pm-1pm: Beginner friendly Salsa class with Diana Aburto
1pm- 4pm: Social dancing with DJ Rumorosa in the mix with your fave bachata, salsa, cumbia, merengue!
2pm:Performances/Birthday song/dance.

No one turned away for a lack of funds
The purpose of sliding scale pricing is to create financial access to those who may otherwise not be able to afford the event. In addition we have added a cheaper tier for queer/trans black and indigenous folk to expand access and to honor the roots of afro-latin music. If you are able to pay more, this helps us sustain our event and create finacial access for others.
All ticket sales are final. This event is 18 and up. Online tickets close 7/18/26 at 9pm.
Additionally you can now make a donation to QCL to help us sustain our event. Donations are optional and in addition to your ticket.
This event is mask required (KF94|KN95|N95) indoors. We will have masks available for folks who don’t have one, or need a better one. There will also be a purifier in the space. All drinks and food must be consumed outside in our parklet, masks must be kept on at all times indoors. As a friendly reminder, if you are feeling ill, test positive for covid, or have come in contact with a person who has tested positive for covid, please stay home. Let’s keep each other safe, I promise this will not be the last event. We will also be implementing covid tracing, so if you pay at the door we will be requiring folks to leave their email.
