Join us for the first meeting of Queer Comic Club on Wednesday, January 15th at the Magic City Acceptance Center! Community members ages 21 and up can join us at 6 PM to discuss our first book, Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe. Gender Queer is a graphic memoir exploring the author's coming of age and exploration of gender identity and sexuality. Copies of Gender Queer can be purchased at Sanctum Tattoos and Comics for 15% off if you tell them you're with the MCAC Queer Comic Club!
Discussion will be facilitated by MG Vinson, MCAC's new social worker and queer superhero comic superfan, and Hannah Hurley, STEPS Peer Navigator, who did their MA in English at Montevallo with a focus in queer theory and graphic narratives and also works at Sanctum. Come prepared to talk about Gender Queer, or just drop in and talk comics!
