About this Event

It's our third annual Queer AAPI Prom! Featuring special guests, drag king Jayden Jamison (@thegoldendragking) and live portrait artist Nala J. Wu (@naladraws). Limited free drink tickets will be given on a first-come basis. Food will be available for purchase, as well as themed mocktails! Allies are welcome, 21+ only.

We’re proud to partner with @everyone250 to REVEAL what intersectional queer joy and resilience look like in real time. Celebrate queer AAPI pride, the first day of summer, and NAAAP Boston’s 40th anniversary! #RevealMoreBoston #E250 #AdvocacyIsAction

  • Physical accessibility: There is one step to enter the building from the street-level entrance. Alternatively, use the accessible entrance next door in the Happy Lamb Hot Pot restaurant to gain access to Stage Karaoke. Then, an elevator is available to enter the venue located on the first floor. You can choose to walk up two flights of stairs instead. There is also a ramp to get onto the performance stage in the venue.

Nala J. Wu (they/them), aka "Jae", is a proud multiple-marginalized art director and award-winning illustrator who works full-time in Tabletop RPGs doing character/costume design, hand drawn titles, layout design, and cover/key art. Through their work, Nala advocates for the positive representation and inclusion of those for whom the spotlight has historically been denied. Besides art, Nala does voice acting, sensitivity consultation, and professional TTRPG actual play stream performance. In their free time, Nala loves experimenting with makeup, eating ungodly amounts of pasta, and Committing To The Bit (whatever the bit may be). They're excited to be offering live portraits & fashion sketches for this event!

Jayden Jamison is a Vietnamese-born drag king who has taken Boston by storm since 2016. A 20-year veteran, his accolades include being awarded Mr. Gay United States Male Illusionist 2016 and the 2016 drag documentary, Kings, Queens & In Betweens. He has transformed the New England drag landscape with his successful drag king workshop, "Kingdom", with 100 graduates to date.

The NAAAP Boston Pride Committee exists at the intersections of Asian and queer identities. We carry these identities beyond AAPI Heritage Month and Pride Month. For 365 days a year, we are leaders in activism and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and are a powerful representation of the AAPI community at large. We have played vital roles in shaping both communities through our social activism, community organizing, and sharing of our stories. Our committee aims to empower, educate, engage, and celebrate the AAPI LGBTQ+ professional community and its allies by providing education, promoting visibility, and developing current and future leaders. At NAAAP Boston, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive space for you, wherever you are in your journey.

The National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) is the premier leadership organization for Asian and Asian American professionals in Boston and across North America - with 20+ chapters, several thousand active members, and a reach of more than 20,000 professionals. We equip AAPI professionals with the tools, support, and visibility they need to thrive while building a community that uplifts, connects, and embraces authenticity. For 40 years, NAAAP Boston has been igniting AAPI excellence - in every space, at every level, for every journey.
