Queensland Youth Orchestras Big Band: Live at The Calile

The Calile presents an evening of music and meaning, featuring a live performance by the Queensland Youth Orchestras (QYO) Big Band as part of the 2025 Stay & Donate program.

Nineteen exceptional young musicians will fill The Calile with the vibrant energy of swing and soul before embarking on its first international tour to Japan – performing across Tokyo, Osaka and Yokohama in a two-week celebration of music and cultural exchange.

Founded in 1966 by conductor and educator John Curro AM MBE, QYO has long been a cornerstone of Queensland’s cultural life, nurturing generations of musicians and fostering creativity, collaboration and excellence. This event marks an important milestone in that legacy, with all proceeds supporting the Big Band’s tour and ensuring every musician can take part.
Tickets: $35 per person plus booking fee. Welcome refreshment included.

6:00pm – Arrival.
6:30pm – QYO Big Band live performance, followed by Q&A
