Queen's, Glasgow parkrun

Thanks a million, Queen’s 💛🦩
This Saturday, parkrun will be part of a very special weekend, as parkrun reaches its 𝟭 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 event across the world.
One million events is a slightly ridiculous thing to think about. That’s one million mornings of people gathering in parks, on promenades, through woods, round playing fields, up hills they definitely remember being flatter, and across finish lines they were very glad to see.
It’s also one million mornings of volunteers arriving early, setting things up, pointing people in the right direction, cheering them round, timing them in, scanning barcodes, handing out tokens, sorting the same tokens back into order, and gently reminding everyone that yes, we do need the token back.
At Queen’s, we know that none of this happens by magic, even if the kit does occasionally appear from the shed in a manner that suggests some kind of very niche outdoor theatre production.
So, in honour of this huge milestone, we’d love Queen’s to be part of the celebrations this Saturday.
To do that safely, we need a few more volunteers for the roster.
No experience is needed. We’ll explain everything on the morning, give you a hi-vis, and point you towards your role with the quiet confidence of people who have absolutely checked the roster at least eleven times.
There are roles where you can cheer, roles where you can scan, roles where you can marshal, and roles where you can help make sense of the sacred mysteries of finish tokens.
You can see the future roster here:

Drop us an email with your role preference and barcode number (parkrun ID) at:

And as always, if you’re on our volunteer mailing list and already have plans this weekend, please don’t feel guilty. Truly. Go live your life. Watch the football. Sleep through the football. Wake up and pretend you always knew the score. We support your journey.
But if you are free, and fancy helping Queen’s be part of parkrun’s millionth event weekend, we’d be very grateful.
Thanks a million @followers 💚
