Harpsichordist Rachel Factor tells the story of Queen Elizabeth's Italian virginal harpsichord through a programme of music featuring some of England's and Italy's most celebrated composers from the 16th and early 17th century. Works featured include compositions from The Dublin Virginal Manuscript, The Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, and Italian composers Picchi, Valente and Merulo. Rachel will perform on her new harpsichord built by Andrew Garlick in 2023, modelled after Queen Elizabeth's virginal.
This concert is supported by H.I.P.S.T.E.R. (Historically Informed Performance Series, Teaching, Education, and Research), the Limerick City and County Council, Limerick Civic Trust, and the People's Museum of Limerick.
