Our journey began in March 2021, when our son Dominic, only four months old, was hospitalized with an unrelenting fever that marked the beginning of a life-changing 28-day stay and a diagnosis of chronic renal failure. From that moment on, we found ourselves learning how to care for him—administering medications, navigating the healthcare system, and becoming his advocates while balancing life as new parents. Over the next few years, Dominic endured more than 30 hospital admissions and several major surgeries, including a gastronomy tube placement, mediport insertion, and ureter valve implant. Each hospitalization brought challenges—long drives to the children’s hospital, time away from work, sleepless nights, and emotional and financial strain—but also strengthened our faith and resilience. Now, at four years old, Dominic is preparing for his next big step: a kidney transplant, with his devoted father as his living donor. This marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a blessing. We are profoundly grateful for the prayers, love, and support that have carried us through. Through God’s grace, we know this is not a story of sorrow but one of faith, hope, and love—a testament to the power of both our heavenly Father’s care and an earthly father’s devotion to his son. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) continues to support families like ours by providing fundraising assistance and family support for children and young adults in need of life-saving transplants, with 100% of contributions directly helping with transplant-related expenses.
