Connecticut’s innovation community is stepping into a new era of technological possibility — and quantum is rapidly becoming a defining part of that future. Join the Connecticut Entrepreneurs Forum and QuantumCT for an energizing conversation on how quantum technologies and AI are shaping new opportunities for startups, corporate innovation, and economic growth in our state.

Taking place at Connecticut Innovations in New Haven, this session brings together two leaders at the forefront of Connecticut’s emerging quantum economy:

  • Albert Green, President & CEO, QuantumCT
  • Gwen Cheni, Director, AI/Q Fund, Connecticut Innovations

Together, they will explore how quantum and AI are converging, what this means for entrepreneurs, and where the next investable opportunities are emerging.

Panelists

Albert Green, President and CEO, QuantumCT
Dr. Albert M. Green was appointed President and CEO of QuantumCT in March 2025.

A successful physicist and entrepreneur, Dr. Green has over 30 years of experience at the intersection of technology, innovation, and corporate leadership.

As the founder and managing partner of AMG Consulting Group, Dr. Green guided startups in business strategy and technology commercialization. He co-founded Mid-America Applied Technology Corporation, where he led efforts to secure federal contracts and advance dual-use technologies. Earlier in his career, Dr. Green led advanced materials and nanotechnology initiatives at Science Applications International Corporation, overseeing multimillion-dollar government contracts and pioneering cross-disciplinary research in emerging technologies.

As the CEO of Kent Displays, Dr. Green led the transformation of a university-developed liquid crystal technology into the ‘Boogie Board’ brand, revolutionizing the way people take notes. Additionally, Dr. Green transformed the company from a research and development-focused licensing company to a product-focused consumer packaged goods company with a global supply chain, marketing, and distribution, achieving over $200 million in worldwide sales and growing the company’s revenues by 20 times.

Dr. Green has advocated nationally for advanced manufacturing, serving on a variety of boards and councils, including on the U.S. Department of Commerce Manufacturing Council, which advises the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on government policies and programs that affect U.S. manufacturing and provides a forum for proposing solutions to industry-related problems. The Council also works to ensure that the United States remains the preeminent destination for investment in manufacturing throughout the world.

Dr. Green holds 26 patents in the areas of photonic systems, displays, and advanced materials. He holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University.

Gwen Cheni, Director AI/Q Fund, Connecticut Innovations
As director of the AI/Q Fund at Connecticut Innovations, Gwen is responsible for the strategic direction of the fund and the deployment of capital of the $50M fund.

Gwen, the cofounder of a stealth startup, was previously a partner on the investment team at Khosla Ventures and a partner at IndieBio/SOSV covering bio and AI. Prior to IndieBio, she was the founder and managing partner of Galapagos Ventures, an early-stage venture fund focused on the intersection of biology and AI/ML. She was also a director at StudioX (machine learning venture studio funded by Shell and Boston Consulting Group) and a venture partner at Fusion Fund (an early-stage fund focused on AI/ML, robotics and devices). Gwen was on the board of advisors at Singularity University Ventures, an impact-focused accelerator, and helped launch their first batch of startups in the Nordics.

Gwen spent 18 years on Wall Street investing in public equities. After working at Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, she was promoted to portfolio manager at a $300 million innovation-themed hedge fund.

Gwen is bilingual in computer science programming languages and wet lab research protocols. On the computer science side, she received her bachelor’s degree in economics (math track) with a minor in computer science and electrical engineering from Yale University. One of her four MBA concentrations from the University of Chicago was econometrics/statistical learning. She graduated from the University of Chicago in two years while working full-time as an associate at JPMorgan. On the wet lab biology side, Gwen spent two years at UCSF researching immunotherapy for glioblastomas. She sits on the advisory board of the Yale University School of Medicine.

Gwen is the author of a chapter in a physics textbook on lasers, the second author on two publications in immuno-oncology, and co-owner of a patent on magnetic resonance. Gwen has traveled to 70 countries, lived in five, and attempted to learn six languages, but speaks none of them (well).
