QuAC 2025 Winter/Spring Courses!

The Queer Activist College (QuAC) offers social justice workshops, trainings, roundtables, and other opportunities for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults interested in advocacy and social change. We bring together current and future activists, organizers, and movement leaders to build skills and take action to make a difference.

Courses are FREE and open to all LGBTQ+ youth and young adults ages 25 and under, and they are located in-person at our community center downtown.

• Thursday, February 13th (5PM - 7PM). Come join The Queer Neighborhood Council for an evening of advocacy work around housing in the LGBTQ+ community. Together, we will brainstorm different approaches to addressing this community need, and then we will go into breakout groups to come up with action steps and identify the people, organizations, and elected officials who can influence policy around queer housing. Food will be provided.
• Thursday, February 20th (4PM - 6PM). The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless will be coming to BAGLY to host a workshop on policy and advocacy in Massachusetts. Topics covered include how policy changes happen in the Massachusetts state legislature, how a bill becomes a law, and what legislative advocacy is currently happening around LGBTQ+ housing justice. Food will be provided.

• Thursday, March 6th (4PM - 6PM). Know your rights at protests and acts of civil disobedience! Citizens for Juvenile Justice (CfJJ) will be coming to BAGLY to host a training on your legal and constitutional rights under the First Amendment to peacefully assemble and to express your views through protest and direct action. Food will be provided.
• Monday, March 24th (4PM - 6PM). Thinking about abolition? Looking for an alternative to law enforcement? The Pathways to Change (PTC) youth cohort from The City School will be coming to BAGLY to host a workshop on a community-based mental health crisis response, which is a model of community response that is free, accessible, and centers the needs of communities disproportionately affected by policing. Food will be provided.

• Wednesday, April 16 (4PM - 6PM). This workshop is for LGBTQ+ students to know their rights in K-12 settings, hosted by ACLU Massachusetts! This event will provide up-to-date information on topics including: Free speech and free expression rights for LGBTQ+ youth in schools, creating and maintaining GSAs, school extracurriculars and sports, student records confidentiality, and bullying/harassment/discrimination. We will discuss the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidance that allows and encourages schools to implement policies to protect LGBTQ students!

QuAC events – referred to as “courses” – are grouped together by topic. Each month is dedicated to a specific topic. QuAC participants who attend every course in a topic (usually 2 to 3 courses) will earn a topic certificate. Participants who attend 6 or more courses within a calendar year earn a QuAC Advocate Certificate and a $200 stipend.

Register to save your spot in advance! Youth walk-ups day of are also welcome, but it's helpful for us to get your sign-up, so that we know how many folks will be in the room.
