Qingzhu Weng翁卿翥, Violin3rd prize winner of the Paganini Competition/Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition
Born in 2001, Qingzhu Weng is one of the most promising Chinese violinists of his generation. With his love for all types of music and art, he seeks to continually develop and share his interpretation of it with the world.
He began playing the violin at the age of four. After attending music schools in China, he completed several degrees in the class of Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.
Qingzhu Weng was a major prizewinner at the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition, the Ysaye International Music Competition, and the Mirecourt International Violin Competition. He is also a Gold Medal recipient at the Global Music Awards with the album “Origin” in collaboration with composer-pianist Chia-Chen Chiang.
He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra, Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, Pforzheim Chamber Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt, and Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz. He has performed in festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Bachfest Leipzig and Beethovenfest Bonn.
He is currently playing a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1761, provided to him by the foundation “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”.
Since September 2023, he is an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in the class of Augustin Dumay. He's now studying Konzertexamen at the Hanns Eisler with Prof. Antje Weithaas.
