Qi Gong is a gentle moving meditation designed to stimulate the flow of vital energy to clear blockages that may cause illness, pain or discomfort in the body. As with all meditation practices, Qi Gong has a calming and soothing effect on the central nervous system.
As we focus on the now and the present moment during our movements the parasympathetic nervous system is engaged and this is when all sorts of hormones such as serotonin and dopamine are released to give us that “feel-good feeling, thus lowering our stress hormone, cortisol.
Following a series of low-impact movements that can be practiced by all individuals and abilities.
Qi Gong movements are soft and continuous, calm and quiet, relaxed and circular.
By coordinating these movements with long slow breaths, this type of breath may slow the heart rate and lower blood pressure.
