Join us for an honest and insightful conversation with casting director, Vicky Boone as she discusses what helps actors stand out in today’s evolving industry. From self-tapes and professionalism to preparation, communication, and long term career sustainability, this workshop will offer practical guidance and real world perspective on what casting professionals are actually looking for and what helps actors get seen, remembered, and called back in 2026.

About Vicky: A native Texan, Boone served as casting director on such feature films as Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life, Nia DaCosta’s Little Woods, Annie Silverstein’s Bull, and Richard Linklater's Hitman, Apollo 10 ½, Where’d You Go, Bernadette and Everybody Wants Some!! For TV, Boone cast for the series Brothers (Apple+), Love and Death (HBO), Mo Amer’s Mo (Netflix), Panic for Amazon and Julie Andem’s SKAM Austin for Facebook Watch. As a producer, Boone is currently developing the feature film I’m Not Missing, adapted from the debut novel by Texas Poet Laureate Carrie Fountain. She is also developing filmmaker Chisa Hutchinson’s mother/daughter drama, Fuller, starring Leslie Jones.
Prior to casting, Boone worked as a theater director and producer. Specializing in new plays, she’s directed over 50 plays and produced many more including new plays by Shay Youngblood, W. David Hancock, Phyllis Nagy and many others. For ten years, she was the Artistic Director of Austin’s ground-breaking Frontera @ Hyde Park Theatre. Boone has an MFA in Directing from Boston University School for the Arts.
