This week we’re joined by the adventurous sailor, Pip Stovold!
7 years ago, I embarked on an adventure that would change my life forever. After hitting a dead end in London, I decided to completely turn things on their head and take part in the clipper race - a round the world sailing race for amateur sailors. This was 40,000 miles, sailing for 11 months with stopovers in countries including Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, China and the US. We were on 70ft racing yachts with around 15 crew. There were 12 boats that took part and were all racing against each other for points. I signed up to do this having never sailed before (I must be mad!) I lived to tell the tale and now I am a teacher, married, with a son but I like to reminisce about my adventures to anyone who will listen!
