Q-MoB Hike, Potluck Picnic, Swimming @ York Lake (New Marlborough, MA)
About this Event
This is one of the most beautiful and laid back swimming lakes in the Berkshires, and is great for:
- Hanging Out overlooking a beautiful lake
- Picnicing, Barbecuing/Grilling
- Swimming
- Canoeing or Kayaking
- Easy Hiking/Strolling
- Frisbee & Other Lawn Games
- Sharing Guitar, Banjo Music &/or Drumming
Please invit all your queer male neighbors & friends to join us in exploring all the fun of summer on one of the most beautiful and accessible lakes in the Berkshires.
SPECIAL INVITATION: While this event is for all queer men in the region, we are making a special outreach to rural queer bears, bigger bodied men, & men who like them & who may want to help organize regular social gatherings of rural bears, bigger-bodied queer men, & the men who like them in the Berkshires.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Please bring $10-$20 Tax-Deductible Donation (paid or as cash or check made out to "BSCC") or by donating $25/month, $50/month, $75/month, $100/month or more.
- potluck picnic food, including items to grill/barbecue, & beverages to share with about 6 people
- rain-gear,
- swimming trunks if you want to swim & towel
- appropriate footwear (that can get muddy),
- snacks & water,
- sunscreen
- Musical instruments if you'd like to offer some music
- Frisbee or other lawn games
- Your Canoe or Kayak if you'd like to enjoy paddling & perhaps share your boat with others
WEATHER: Please check the weather in New Marlborough from your home before you leave for the event, so that you will be able bring the right clothes to deal with any last minute changes in the weather. Weather in the Berkshires can change quickly and it always good to be prepared for rain, wind, & unexpectedly cooler or hotter temps than were forecast the day before. We will only cancel the hike if there is a forecast of a thunderstorm, and we will text you should this happen the day of the hike.
CARPOOLING/RIDE-SHARE: Carpooling is a great way to get to know other people, save money on gas, and help to reduce your carbon footprint and save the planet. If you need a ride or are open to carpooling, please indicate that when you are registering, & our ride coordinator will try to match you with people nearby who are interested in carpooling or offering rides.
