Q & A with Glyn Howells

We are delighted to welcome Hospital Managing Director, Southmead Hospital Operating Unit, Bristol NHS Foundation Trust: Glyn Howells, as our guest speaker to our Walkers & Talkers session on October 28th.
Glyn has significant board and senior leadership experience in both the private and public sectors, with over 14 years NHS experience in both commissioning and provider organisations in addition to more than 10 years of board level director roles in the commercial world. His commercial experience saw him working across Europe, South Africa and India including living in France for 2 years prior to settling back in the UK and moving into the NHS.
His experience covers multiple portfolios including finance, estates, IMT projects, operations and management consultancy. He joined the former North Bristol NHS Trust in 2019 initially in the finance function including being Chief Finance Officer for almost 4 years from 2021. More recently, Glyn was appointed Hospital Managing Director for North Bristol NHS Trust in September 2024, providing overall site-based leadership during the transition to merged organisation, promoting a culture of collaboration across the organisation and wider health and social care system.
Outside of work Glyn originally trained as a professional trombonist and still plays to a good standard in local bands.
