This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18. Adult guardians do not have to purchase a ticket if they only plan to assist children in the craft. Adults who plan to make their own craft are required to purchase a ticket.One of the many beloved sights of spring in Nordic countries is the colorful, feather-festooned birch and willow branches that celebrate Easter and usher in the new season. Winter has finally passed, and we all crave color and renewal! The festive branches can stay up all season, and are decked out with colorful feathers, spring-themed ornaments, bright ribbons, and beautiful paper flowers. At this time of year Swedish homes are still festive with Påskris (Easter branches), and in Finland you’ll see bouquets collected during Virpominen when kids recite a spring blessing, give their decorated willows, and receive candy in return.
Make your own spring Påskris that will last well beyond the season! In this workshop, you will learn how to make paper ornaments and paper flowers, and decorate your own Påskris to brighten your home, or give as gifts!
Your instructor will provide step-by-step instruction on how to choose your own branches, make two types of paper ornaments and paper flowers, and decorate your branches with feathers, ribbons, and other materials.
Enough materials will be provided to make at least two medium-sized Påskris and at least six paper flowers and six paper ornaments. Once you're done...you will want to go home and make even more!
