About this Event

Join Us for Pysanky - The Ukrainian Folk Art of Egg Decoration!

Get ready to dive into the vibrant tradition of Ukrainian egg decorating with our hands-on, in-person event. Discover the magic behind pysanky, where each egg tells a story through colorful, intricate designs. Whether you're a beginner or just curious, come have fun, learn cool techniques, and celebrate this unique folk art with us!

Participants will go through the entire process of completing a decorated egg. You will clean out your egg, seal the ends with bees wax, and then learn how to decorate the egg with a traditional Pysanky tool called a Kystka. The kystka is heated on a flame and filled with wax. It is used to make wax lines on the egg and then dipped into various color dyes. The final step is melting off the wax to reveal a vibrant design.

Sasha is a multi media artist originally from Ukraine. She has been making pysanky since 2020. After the war in Ukraine, Sasha felt a call to take up traditional Ukrainian Folk Art. Since then she has been studying and practicing Pysanky and Petrykivka. She cant wait to share all she has learned in this interactive workshop.

All supplies are provided.
