About this Event
Learn about this ancient and beautiful way of ushering in spring and the techniques necessary to transform a plain egg into an intricate colourful object of hope.
This workshop will introduce you and your child (ages 8+) to the symbols, cultural context, and lore behind this ancient craft, while also gaining the practical skills of applying wax with a stylus, dyeing, and revealing their egg design.
Each participant will have the opportunity to make 2 pysanky eggs. If you are coming with someone else, note that you must purchase a ticket for each person.
Our instructor, Nataliya, hails from Ukraine and is excited to share her skills with the community. She has been running Pysanka workshops for children and adults in the Ottawa Valley for about 10 years.
NOTES:
a) Workshops are transferable to another person and only refundable if we have people on the waiting list who can take your spot. Please make sure this date works with your schedule.
b) Member-rate tickets are reserved for current Ottawa Tool Library members. If a non-member registers at the member rate, we will follow up to collect the price difference plus a $15 administrative fee.
