Pyramid building began 5000 years ago. The Khufu pyramid completed around 2560 BC held the record for the tallest man made structure for 3800 years…..
Egyptian pharaohs believed that death was not an end, but a transition to an afterlife, a continuation of life in a different form. They envisioned it as a journey through the underworld and ultimately to a paradise called the Field of Reeds, provided they were judged worthy. Preparation for this journey was crucial, involving mummification, elaborate burials, and provision of goods for the afterlife.
Another fascinating area to explore is Abu Simbel. Constructed a thousand years after pyramid building stopped. It is located 650 miles south of the Giza pyramid complex and remained completely unknown to the outside world….. until 1813. 3000 years of time past before it's rediscovery.
Carved out of solid rock by the great Pharaoh Ramses II. Four seated gigantic statues dominate its exterior.
