Pusher presents: LOCAL LEGENDS Climbing Comp

Local Legends 2023 promises to be an event jam packed with climbing festivities and an overall good vibe. With performances from DJ Mojave Ben and DJ Plastic Princess, and alcohol generously provided by Desolation Distillery, we challenge you to find a more buck wild way to usher in the New Year.

Competition Details

COED - ALL LEVELS - ONE CATEGORY

○ Qualification round:

■ Heat 1 at 9:00 AM -12:00 PM (doors open at 8 AM for warmup)

■ Heat 2 at 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (doors open at 12:00 PM for warmup)

○ Finals Round:

■ Doors Open 7:00 PM

■ Finals 8:00 PM -11:00 PM

■ BALL DROP AT MIDNIGHT

■ Party until 2:00 AM

Format:

Qualifications will be a modified redpoint round of 10-12 boulders ranging in difficulty and styles. There are no categories based on skill, gender, or age; just one competition pool to crown one Local Legend! From there, the top 24 athletes will be taken to Finals, which is of Soft Second Go format. There will be 5 rounds in Finals, each consisting of a boulder that presents unique, unforeseen challenges. Each finalist will have one attempt to establish their high point on the boulder, and if they make the cut, they will progress to the next round.

HOWEVER, each finalist has ONE Soft Second Go. If a finalist does not believe their effort was sufficient to make the cut for the next round, they can utilize their Soft Second Go and have one more attempt to bump up their high point. This decision must be made immediately after their initial attempt, and once a Soft Second Go is used, that attempt is scored and there will be no more second chances for that finalist.

The person who survives all 5 rounds will be crowned Salt Lake City’s 2023 LOCAL LEGEND, winning glory, bragging rights, and a one of a kind trophy that will serve as a dinner party conversation piece for years to come.

Registration for the competition automatically reserves your spot to attend Finals and the after party, but registration for the party does NOT get a spot in the competition.
