From the world renowned Purdue University, join the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band for a free concert in Madrid!No ticket needed but registration encouraged! Join us for this free concert at el Centro Cultural Sanchinarro!
The premier ensemble, Purdue Jazz Band , competes each year at Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Illinois and headlines the annual Purdue Jazz Festival since 1988. They have traveled the world performing at the prestigious Montreux, Alpine, and North Sea jazz festivals, throughout Eastern Europe, Spain, and Colombia. The Purdue Jazz Combo served as guest clinicians for the Colombo Americana Jazz Camp in Manizales, Colombia (2023). Most recently, the Purdue Jazz Band toured Oahu, Hawaii (2023) and will soon travel to Spain (Spring 2026).
The Purdue Jazz Band is under the direction of Bethany Robinson .
They will perform a selection of the following:

- Portrait of Wellman Braud , Duke Ellington
- The Ponderous Pachyderm of the Planks , Sherman Irby
- The Claw, arr. Med Flory
- Tho-Three's Adventure , Carlos Henriquez
- Sagebrush , Annie Booth
- Fierce , Allison Miller, arr. Noriko Ueda
- Back Home Again in Indiana , James F. Hanley, arr. dominic Spera
- Spain , Chick Corea, arr. John La Berbera

The Purdue Wind Ensemble recently performed at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, WA (2024), at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. (2025) and will soon tour Spain (Spring 2026). They have traveled the world performing throughout Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Spain, and at the famed Carnegie Hall twice (2006, 20216).
The Purdue Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Jay Gephart.
