Sparring lovers, a hero in Battle, a tormented and abandoned queen, a bevy of witches, and a boisterous crowd of sailors— Purcell’s miniature opera Dido and Aeneas has all the ingredients of a fine drama! The acclaimed chamber choir Schola Cantorum joins with members of Providence Baroque in presenting this ancient tale of lost love. Mezzo Soprano Sophie Michaux is featured as the tortured Queen Dido.
