Puppet Pop Up - Harry Potter Owl Day Puppets

For our 2024 -25 season we’re popping up around the city at seven different locations on the first Saturday afternoon, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm of each month (with the exception of December, February and June). Planning on attending all seven Puppet Pop Ups?

May 2nd is officially Harry Potter Day because that’s when Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort during the Battle of Hogwarts. We’re going to skip the battle and you can make your own Puppet Owls. Silk scarves and pool noodles along with feathers and other natural owlish objects make a convincing owl. Maybe we’ll even be able to do a fly by and parade with WP Puppet Theatre’s favourite 5-foot-long owl puppet. Check here for in-depth info about real owls and Potter owls.

Facilitator: Wendy Passmore- Godfrey (she/her) is artist, creator and founder and director of WP Puppet Theatre. One of her most magical, though not in a Harry Potter sense, was seeing a wild owl flying in a moon lit lonely campsite!

Parking: lots of free parking

Public Transit: The following transit lines have routes that pass near South Cardel Rec Centre: Bus 14 and 153, and the nearest light rail station to South Cardel Rec Centre in Calgary is NB Somerset - Bridlewood Ctrain Station. Light rail 201 is an 8 min walk away.

Venue Accessibility: There are elevators and ramps, as well as accommodating washrooms.

Donations: These allow us to keep our fees affordable! Please add a little extra, 'pay it forward', if you can. Donations over $20 will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Fine Print:

• All materials, tools and instruction supplied at no extra cost.
• Suitable for ages 5+.
• EVERY* person attending is required to purchase a ticket.
• *With the exception of babes-in-arms and care-workers .
• Tickets sales end 24 hours before the event starts.
• Minimum of 5 people are required to run the workshop.
• Waiting list is enabled and you will be contacted if a space comes free or we decide to run the workshop again.
• WPTS reserves the right to cancel via email notification with 24 hours notice.
• If WPTS cancels, tickets will be refunded less service fees.
• If guests cancel up to seven days before the event tickets will be refunded less service fees. If guests cancel with less than seven days before the event, or do not attend, no refund will be offered. A tax receipt can be issued upon request.
