Punishment of Luxury return to the Georgian Theatre for a third time and the sixth occasion we have promoted them.
From a background working in English fringe theatre groups, Punishment Of Luxury formed in December of 1976, in Newcastle. Taking their name from an 1891 painting by Giovanni Segantini in the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, the band consisted initially of Brian Bond (born Brian Rapkin - vocals), Neville Luxury (born Neville Atkinson - guitar, vocals), Red Helmet (guitar, vocals), Jimi Giro (bass guitar, vocals), and "Liquid" Les Denham (drums).
They released their debut single, "Puppet Life" on the Small Wonder label in July 1978. In 1979 they signed to United Artists and released the singles "Engine Of Excess" and "Secrets", and the album Laughing Academy. In the summer of 1979 they played at the Reading Rock Festival after The Cure and before The Tourists and Motörhead.
1980 saw the release of the single "Laughing Academy". An extensive European tour followed and United Artists sent the band into the studio to record another album, a concept album to be called Gigantic Days. However while the recording was still going on, United Artists were taken over by EMI, who dropped the band. A final European tour was followed by Bond's departure.
Neville, Sekrit and Giro recruited guitarist Tim Magenta to a new lineup, now going by the name Punilux. They released a further album on the Red Rhino label, 7 in 1983, with Magenta replaced by Rab Aitch, before Neville Luxury went solo, releasing the mini-album Feels Like Dancing Wartime in 1984. The album Gigantic Days was finally released, on CD, in 1998 by Overground Records.
They reformed in 2007.

Cazimi are from Sunderland and Newcastle. Cazimi are a trio of post-punk misfits that play in-between music. They have been described as “Not so much the illegitimate sons, but the genetically engineered progeny of luminaries such as Magazine, The Bunnymen, The Stranglers, Hawkwind, Killing Joke, John Barry and Erik Satie”. Bullshit? Maybe.
Cazimi have been played on Tom Robinson’s Mixtape and his Saturday show as well as local radio plays by Nicky Roberts at BBC Newcastle. The band released their debut album 'Late in the Day' in 2020 and 'Signals' EP in 2022, both of which are available on CD as well as through AWAL via Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, TIDAL etc.
BONES PARK RIDER are widely regarded as one of the most exciting and proficient bands to emerge from Sheffield’s thriving underground music scene.
Known for their fiercely energetic stage show and intelligent, skin-tight, textured songs, the seasoned four-piece conjure a rare and varied brand of alternative, high-octane rock n roll. BPR formed in 2009 with a mission to encapsulate the vibrancy and immediacy of '78(ish) era alternative guitar bands. A myriad of influences and original thinking has set them apart, and the band has made a name for itself through its blistering stage show and run of very well received records.
After excellent receptions with the likes of The Beat, Dead Boys and UK Subs they released their highly acclaimed second album ‘There But for the Grace of God’ which achieved a heady 9/10 in Vive Le Rock magazine. Their new EP "Year of the Rat" was released in 2021, followed up with a collectors' edition 7" picture disc single featuring two of the tracks.
