This distinctly North American art form, which evolved from 19th-century rug hooking, uses a unique tool to punch loops of yarn into woven cloth. During the workshop, you can create your own design or choose from a selection of botanical-inspired patterns crafted by Tyler. You'll learn the techniques required to make your own unique, one-of-a-kind piece of fiber art.

Hi, my name is Tyler and I'm a fiber artist living in Riverdale, Maryland along with my husband and 11-year-old puppy. I've spent the last fifteen years working in the environmental non-profit sector in D.C. and Belize with a focus on awareness campaigns, communications, and fundraising. Early in my career I picked up fiber art as a form of art therapy to counterbalance the often-depressing nature of working on environmental issues. I quickly fell in love with all things yarn and the many different textures and colors there are to play with. As a fiber artist, I now specialize in modern tapestry weaving, punch needle, and tufting and have sold my work in craft fairs and online all over the country. When not creating fiber art, I'm often found chasing the thrill of finding bizarre treasures while thrifting all over the DMV, dreaming about my next trip to the beach, or enjoying my husband's current obsession with tiki drinks!
