About this Event
Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Batter Up Bakery is here to help! In this 2-hour class, we'll cover the basics to sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided in class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
Join us for a pumpkinly good class as we work our way through this 2 hour cookie decorating class where we will decorate 6 pumpkin spice themed cookies using 5 icing colors. Don't be a scaredy cat! Join us for an adventure in cookie decorating. Let your imagination run wild as you create a sweet pumpkin treat.
You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.
This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We’ll be decorating a set of 6 Pumpkin-spiced themed cookies - prepare for a “gourd” time with your pumpkin spice and everything nice!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 5 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!
This class is on Sunday, October 13, 2024 and starts at 2:00-4:00 PM sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 24 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
This class is good for ages 12 and up, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!
The class will be helped at the Central Community Center in Florence, AL located at 4130 County Rd. 6. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy - there is plenty of paved and marked parking in the front on at the side of the building.
Things to Bring:
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
· Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
· Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
· Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
· Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
· Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
About Batter Up Bakery:
Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Batter Up Bakery is all about!
These classes are based in Florence, AL and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.
For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 2 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!
A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since February 2020– and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are Christmas cookies – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!
DIY/Add-on Kits:
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
