These collaborations bring together musicians and creators from across generations, genres, and artistic backgrounds—string quartets and composerperformers, improvisers and multimedia collectives—each with a distinct voice and approach. Through these partnerships, Pulsing Sound highlights the breadth of New York's musical landscape and the vitality of the communities shaping it.

Lydia Rhea & Amber Scherer

Having met while they were both students at The Juilliard School, cellist Lydia Rhea and pianist Amber Scherer soon bonded over programming that centers underrepresented composers, blurs the lines between classical and jazz genres, and prioritizes storytelling in accessible ways. They are known for their collaborations with living composers and this season will be performing throughout the US, UK, and Canada.
