Puja: making offerings to deities to cleanse our minds and souls as well as asking them to fulfill our desires. Pujas are done throughout one's life, on various occasions for various reasons.
Agnihotra: Agni is the opening that leads to God. When we are making offerings into the fire, the smoke that arises is what allows God to consume the offerings. This cleanses the environment where the Agnihotra is conducted.
