Puffins are frequently featured in wildlife calendars, called the Clowns of the Sea, and are many people's “favorite” bird. However, Puffins can be challenging to see because they inhabit remote northern locations, spend most of their lives at sea, and only seasonally visit land to breed and raise pufflings. This unique travelogue and photo workshop explores Hugh Smith’s decades-long fascination with puffins and efforts to photograph them in Alaska, Iceland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, and Quebec. Join me to learn all about Puffins and their lives on remote maritime islands. We will explore their life cycle, fishing methods, predators & competitors, unique breeding plumage, and much more. Creating beautiful and impactful Puffin photographs will be a central theme of this workshop.
